Team 1 - High School! :) (Carly Castillo, Aubry McMahon, Tori Giles, Jessie Rinker, Garrett Kight, Connor Williamson and Austin Shepherd!!)
When team ONEderful arrived we started off with a devotion with Mr. Holiday and then Jessie, Tori, and Connor worked on the flooring in the bathroom. While they were doing that Garrett, Austin and Amy worked outside on the stairs. Aubry and Carly primed all the door and removed old paint from Mr. Holidays back door. After lunch we sat and talked to Mr. Holiday and he showed us some of his old pictures and was very proud of them. Jessie and Tori then went outside and used power tools to cut wood! uh oh! :) and we all continued with our jobs that we were working on before lunch. Mr. Holiday was very happy with the work we did today and said he couldn't wait to see us again on Thursday! :)
Team 2- High School (Hayleigh Armour, Brianna Marino, Andrew Bumpers, Mallory Sims, Kelley Hillsgrove, Hunter Dowless, and Clay Darcey.) We are known as TWO is better than ONE! ^ (:
Today we continued the projects that we started yesterday and we noticed a lot more work getting done, or so it seemed. Bri and Hayleigh got the floor in the bathroom laid down and that was such a relief! Ms. Raines was so excited to see that she had a floor and not a huge hole in her bathroom. Hunter and Clay trimmed the bushes around the houses and the yard. Mallory and Kelley worked on adding boards to the hole in the computer room that they will later add drywall to. Andrew and Mr. Ed fixed the threshold to the front door on Ms. Raines' wheelchair ramp. All they need to do is add a piece to make it a smooth ramp. (: Overall it seemed like we all had more progress today. Tomorrow is the beach day and we all are SUPER excited but we are more excited to get back to work on Thursday! Hi Mrs. Marino and whoever else reads these!!!!! (: < 3
Love always,
Group 2!
Team 3 - High school ( Kaitlyn Sizemore, Morgan Blythe, David McCraw, Alex Cook, Sarah Fuquay, Alissa Kotowsi) Today we finished tearing up the floors in the dining area and in the bathroom. We beat a tub with a sledgehammer today as well. Very interesting. We have a lot done but stilll yet a lot more to do! our group is taking turns doing shifs in each room. Today our group bonded with the family little more. We got to view Damiens' ( The Pritchards grandson) drawings. We also learned that he loves to sing to linkin park. Mrs. Pritchard also showed Emily (our adult councelor person) her garden. With no surprise, David McCraw was able to get wet with a water hose. our group also got to eat some interesting tasting watermelon! As a group we are also coming closer. im proud of what we have accomplished and what is planned for thursday.
Quote of the day: "Eyes of steel, balance like a kitty." -Walter Miles (The one who fell through the floor haha) :)
Team 4
Today was a fun day! At our morning devotion we went over to this lady's house, her name is Mrs. Alice, she is the nicest lady ever. She is 93 and she can do everything that a teenager can, she even drives. At our work site we had to work on the windows, I have been working on using the caulk gun! it is a lot of fun. We are at Queen El's house, her son lives with her, and we have been helping him build a really big flower box. Its been a fun week, and i can't wait until Friday because Mrs. El is fixing us lunch and so is Mrs. Alice.
Team 5
Today we had lots of fun while making a huge difference in the Grey family! We worked so hard together and built a relationship with the Grey family and are other group members. We worked very hard and had some very frustrating moments but in the end we had a great time and got most of the job done. We did encounter 2 different problems though. The first was that when we were hammering into a wall a picture fell on the other side so we gorilla glued it back together and then told Ms. Grey but the picture looked as good as new. Our 2nd problem was that our joist hangers turned out to be too big for the wood that we were using to make the back porch, but Sheldon B. had the opportunity to use a grinder to saw off the extra medal. Problem SOLVED. Then we continued to finish the deck.
